Ransom Sage Farm

Ransom Sage Farm is the picking half of a two-site operation at Chardon: Sage's Apples is the market on Chardon Road, Ransom Sage is the farm you walk into. It describes itself in three words: "A pick your own fruit farm."

What You Can Pick

• Apples - August through October, around 15 varieties. Ginger Gold, Jonamac, McIntosh, Holiday, Melrose, Jonagold and Golden Delicious in one orchard; Ludacrisp, Rosalie, Topaz and Suncrisp in a second; Honeycrisp in a third directly below the barn
• Grapes - "many varieties to pick Mid August through October"
• Raspberries - autumn primocane crop, August to October
• Blueberries
• Dahlias and cut flowers

Good to Know

No admission fee. U-pick runs June to October; November to March the farm is open for private and special events only.

Two things the farm says plainly about this year: "We will not have Pick Your Own Summer Raspberries in 2026", and on apples, "We will not run out of apples, we will continue to open up new rows and varieties to be picked."

The market side is planting for the future: another row of Concord grapes and a seedless Concord in 2026, 600 Sweet Maia trees, Honeycrisp and Rosalie replacements, 200 Kudos trees in the pick-your-own block, and a new Gala for picking.

Pro tip: the pick-your-own apple orchard is a long way back behind the barn and the farm knows it, so it provides wagons. Take one even if you think you will not need it, because the Honeycrisp block and the Ludacrisp block are not next to each other.
