Geig's Orchard

Geig's Orchard at Seville is a fourth-generation family farm that runs its picking as a programme of dated events rather than an open field, and prices its blackberries plainly.

What You Can Pick

• Blackberries - from mid-July, at $6.50 a pound
• Apples - autumn weekends, plus a Honeycrisp evening in September
• Pumpkins - autumn weekends

What It Costs

"U-pick blackberries are $6.50 per pound. A $2 Geig's Orchard bucket is required for picking. Additional containers may be borrowed if needed."

For apples: "No admission tickets needed. Purchase picking containers in the market the day of your visit."

The Honeycrisp Evening

A ticketed golden-hour event: "Each ticket includes a guided Honeycrisp picking experience, ½ peck of Honeycrisp apples, one apple cider donut, live music, bonfires, lawn games" and access to the orchard gathering areas.

Good to Know

Closed Tuesdays. Opening day was 8 July. The farm warns: "Crop availability changes quickly. Please check our website or social media before visiting for the latest picking updates."

Its own cannery makes jams and pie fillings, and there is orchard yoga, which includes a half-peck bag of apples.

Pro tip: the $2 bucket is a one-off and you keep it, so if you are coming back for the apples later in the season, bring it. Geig's borrows you extra containers but the bucket is the ticket into the blackberry patch.
