Apple picking in Rochester, NY

In the farm's own words, picking runs "Throughout the Season" from 1 June, Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. September brings red raspberries, peaches, blackberries and the early apples. Donut peaches were sold out for the season at the time of checking.

Apple picking runs through autumn across 32 varieties on short trees. Blueberries run mid-July to early September at the farm's separate field in Niagara County, an hour west along the Lake Ontario shore. A notice on the site about no picking until 12 November reads as last autumn's and should be checked by phone.

In the farm's own words: "Pick Your Own Peaches & Flowers NOW OPEN" and "Farm Fresh has arrived! OPEN for the season." Strawberries, cherries and raspberries come earlier in the year, apples and pumpkins later. Closed Tuesdays.

Apple picking has begun with Zestar, the farm's first variety of the season. Admission to the Sunflower Spectacular is required through 7 September and the apples are charged on top of it. Open Thursdays to Sundays, with orchard hayrides every day the farm is open.

U-pick was listed as closed at the time of checking. The farm announces its picking dates by email rather than publishing a calendar, so the mailing list is the way to catch them.

The farm's site still carries last autumn's sign-off, "Thank you for a great apple picking season! The orchard is closed", with apples and cider available from the cold store on Thrall Road for cash. Picking returns in autumn; ring before travelling.

The farm invites visitors to "Start by picking your own fruit" and grows apples, peaches, pears, plums, cherries and blueberries. It publishes no dates, prices or hours, so a call is the only way to know what is open.
