Underwood Family Farms at Moorpark is the largest pick-your-own operation in southern California and the most organised. It publishes three separate pages just to tell you what is open.
The farm runs a "Pick Your Own This Week" page, a map showing which fields are open, a Projected Crop Calendar and a Seasonal Produce Guide. Between them they are the best picking information published by any farm in this region.
Strawberries and blueberries in spring, vegetables through the summer, Pick Your Own Roma Tomatoes as a named event, and pumpkins in autumn.
An Animal Center, a farm market, tractor rides, birthday parties in the Barnyard or the Pony Paddock, farm camp, and a long calendar of weekends: Antique Tractor Weekend, Wild West Weekend, All About Pumpkins Weekend, a Springtime Easter Festival, a Tulip Garden Experience and Christmas On The Farm.
The Fall Harvest Festival is the big one, with a schedule of events and its own site map.
There is a second farm at Somis with its own picking calendar, listed separately here.
Admission and tickets are published on the farm's own site.
Pro tip: read "Pick Your Own This Week" and the field map together. Knowing which field is open saves you walking the wrong half of a very large farm in the California sun.
We list what we have confirmed. If something you need is not shown, it is worth calling the farm to check.
Our own assessment, scored the same way for every farm on the site, from what each farm publishes about itself. Not a visit, and not a public review score.
