About This Farm
Castle Rock Orchard near Farmington is one of the newest orchards near the Twin Cities: two acres and over 1,350 dwarf trees on a trellis system, three miles south of Farmington and Lakeville.

The Varieties
The orchard's own sequence: "We'll start with Zestar in late August. Then the better than ever Sweet Tango, followed by the always refreshing Honeycrisp! Wrapping up with SnowSweet, one of U of M's best kept secrets!"
What It Costs
$10 to $15 a bag at the fruit stand, depending on variety.
Good to Know
Open Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm. Note that the weekend is the shorter day here.
Pro tip: SnowSweet really is a well-kept secret. It is a University of Minnesota apple whose flesh resists browning for hours after cutting, which makes it the best salad apple in the state and almost impossible to buy.
