Stribling Orchard

Stribling Orchard at Markham has been farmed by six generations of Striblings, and 2026 has stopped it. The orchard's own words are worth reading whole:

"We are deeply disappointed to share that severe freeze damage resulted in the loss of our peach and apple crops this year. Because we will not have peaches available, the orchard will not open for peach season."

What You Can Pick

Nothing, at the time of checking. In a normal year the orchard picks apples, nectarines, pears, peaches and pumpkins.

What Is Happening Instead

The orchard is "currently planning to open for a limited fall season in September/October" and is working to buy in Virginia apples to offer on those weekends. Bakery items and vendors are still being decided.

In its own words: "specific dates, hours, products, and activities will be announced as soon as they are confirmed."

It is also selling beef, by the quarter, half and whole animal.

Pro tip: do not drive to Markham for fruit this year without ringing first. A sixth-generation orchard cancelling its flagship season outright is the clearest measure of what the April freeze did to this region.
