Blake's Big Apple

Blake's Big Apple is the second of Blake's three picking sites at Armada, a mile and a half from the cider mill on North Avenue, and it picks the same three early apples on the same day, 23 July.

What You Can Pick

• Apples - from 23 July. Paula Red, Zestar and Ginger Gold
• Eggplant and green tomatoes - from 31 July
• Peppers and cherry tomatoes - from 3 August. Sweet banana, green bell, Italian roaster and jalapeño
• Squash, zucchini and tomatoes - from 12 August. Roma, rounds and grape

What Else is Available

A store selling cider, donuts, caramel apples and fudge. In autumn the site turns over to Halloween properly: a Zombie Paintball Experience and a three storey haunted barn.

Good to Know

This is a different address from Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill and a different phone number, though both sit in Armada and both are Blake's. Check which site has the crop you want before setting off.

Pro tip: Big Apple grows the same three early apples as the cider mill but without Funland attached, so on a July weekend it is the quieter of the two Armada orchards by a wide margin.
